Governance, Urban Development, Infrastructure
Economic Development, Community Development

Urban development is a generic term with concrete foundations. Getting it right has far-reaching impacts on society, on communities, and people. Urban development spans land use, residential and business development, the design and delivery of physical infrastructure and utilities, the provision of community amenities and services, and funding. The diverse functions underlying city development need to be carried out in a coordinated manner, and respond to the financial, social and physical realities of a given urban setting. The CityScope team understands those functions and settings and how the two might interact in any given case. Resolving urban development issues calls for a depth of experience, multi-disciplinary skills, and creativity. The CityScope team brings these attributes to solving urban problems and helping to set platforms for development. While we bring a range of technical skills to our assignments, we aim to avoid the institutionalised models and mind-sets that an too easily strait-jacket thinking about cities in a resource-constrained future. We ensure that strategy and plans are well founded on sound research, evidence, analysis, and engagement with stakeholders . The CityScope team offers these things as well as team leadership and internationally recognised expertise. Our clients include: Wellington Regional Council, Auckland Regional Council, Manukau, Auckland, North Shore and Tauranga City Councils, Papakura and Rodney District Councils, Auckland Regional Transport Authority.

Other examples of our work in urban  development can be found on the Assignments page.
